Her life was not so Precious...

Life is hard. Life is short. Life is painful. Life is rich. Life is....Precious. The title of the movie we watched this time is entitled Precious. What this sixteen year old girl goes through is simply unbearable but she goes through it anyway. This movie doesn’t really put importance on the teacher but the teacher does influence her in a way. Following the discovery of Precious' second pregnancy (by her father), she is expelled from school. Her junior high school principal arranges to have her attend an alternative school, which she hopes can help Precious change her life's direction. Precious finds a way out of her traumatic daily existence through imagination and fantasy. In her mind, there is another world where she is loved and appreciated. The teacher in the alternative school, Miss Blu Rain helps her to learn to read. Precious in the end learns how to read and write. The movies ends with Precious determined to take care of her two children in a very young age with one child who is Down syndrome. It is a sad story yet tells the audience that no matter how hard life is, there is always a way to come out from it. This girl proved it in a very young age. I pray and hope whoever goes through this kind of trauma can come out of it soon.

  1. yeah naomi..
no matter how hard life is, there is always a away to over come it.i always believe in that but i also believe that saying the words are easier than taking the actions.not many people are able to see a problem from the positive side until someone comes and help them from falling farther down.. not many people have the strength to endure the pain alone..not many people can handle their miserable lives without affecting their emotion..they still need people around them to guide along the life path. we should always be ready to lend a hand if they need it because it is obvious the word 'humanity' comes from us; human.

  2. Experience? Well so many things happening nowadays in life but as you said, there is always a way to over come it. God has always been there to guide me and pull me up whenever I fall. :)

  3. It is a powerful story. I mean, what she had been through was just too awful. And the scene where she had a fight with her mom was totally jaw dropping. It was horrible! They could have killed each other! It is a good way of portraying a life of a problem child. Sometimes we need to look on the background too, rather than just judging people blindly..

  4. I feel so sorry about her.Her heart is badly injured by her parents and the society. Her own father raped her and her mother does not care about that! I hate her father so much!?He is not much better than a beast!Disgusting!!He should be punished!!However, the most precious thing is that the girl has a strong and determined heart in facing the difficulties that may happen in her life.

  5. I feel afraid to see that human being are more scary than animals right now. Human beings are now scary than animals also because they have brain and they know how to think! How sarcastic it is?! Down to the fact that I know there are many more "Precious" out there but I seriously hope that there is only one, which is in the movie. Family should be our safest and most reliable place to lean our shoulder on, but she betrayed by her family members. If, there are still other "Precious" out there, I pray that they receive helps they needed as soon as possible and they have a brave and strong heart like "Precious" in the movie. This movie certainly had struck me heavily.

  6. Pity her. She need to face all the difficulties and pain at a very young age. Every day, she walk at the same path of life. Peoples around her treat her like rubbish. Something that is not valuable. A place that we can a call a home is a disaster for her. No one listen and care about her. She has her own dream and hope but nobody know. I know that some teenager out there also face the same problem and i hope that there can cope with the situation by being brave and strong like 'Precious'.

  7. A very difficult film to watch on so many levels but an important film to watch. This film offers a great opportunity to speak out about the abuse that plagues many children in this country. The reality of what happens behind the door of what should be a "safe" place called home is instead an absolute nightmare but there is hope in rising above and finding a better life, Precious gives that hope to us in this film. :)
